Clubs/Activities

Club times are 8:10-8:55.  Students will go to their class, drop off their things and listen to the morning announcements. 

Art Club - Students will have the opportunity to participate in both individual and group projects not covered during the regular Art classes.  Some activities that we will cover include Pendulum painting and slime making!  Grades: K-4 (Chapman/Buggar)

Volleyball Club – Students will learn basic skills with beach balls. Bump, Set, and Spike. Learning positions and focus on indoor volleyball 6 v 6. Grades 2-4 (Ramos/Rosson)

Save the Earth Club - Are you interested in making sure sea turtles have a habitat to live in? Want to ensure our beautiful oceans stay clean? What can you do to make sure animals do not go extinct? (Think a cute panda.) Then this is the club for you.  We will research ways that kids can make a difference, make posters to put up around the school, and make mini videos to feature in the school news. Grades 3-4 (Robinson)

Bejeweled Club - We will make jewelry, frames and other "bejeweled" accessories. Supplies will be provided. (Vigen/Middleton K-1) (Englert 2-4)

Water Color Painting with a Kindergarten Twist - We will focus on landscapes and skies.   I love sunrises and sunsets so I will put up a picture and we will do our best to match the colors.  Students will need to bring a "painting" shirt to protect their clothing. K-1 (Denard/Rodriguez/Munoz)

Building Club: Legos, Tinker Toys, and Blocks - What child doesn’t love to use their imagination to build? Building Club will provide tools that help stimulate and develop spatial intelligence.  Grades 1st and 2nd (Butler/Kittrell/Walters)

Zen Coloring Club - A serene place to come and de-stress from the pressures of school. Students will listen to soothing music as they color beautiful artwork designed to help them relax and refresh their mind. K-4 (Simmons/Morrison/Mancini/Seeton)

Norwood Spirit Squad- If you like to cheer and lead the school in spirit, this club is for you. Learn cheer basics and perform at school assemblies to bring Norwood spirit to life! Grades 3-4 (Toomey/Fallis)

World Traveler Club - We will explore all seven continents. We will explore countries in each continent and show how they differ from us.  Such as the culture, dance, language, how they dress, games they play, and arts and crafts. The students will create arts and crafts and learn different languages while they are in here. (Fore 3-4)

Card Games Club - Do you love playing card games? We will learn card games such as War, Race to 100, Go Fish and UNO! Grades 3-4 (Deary/Caro) 

The STEM Club - Encourages students to be problem-solvers and critical thinkers using hands-on activities that are both fun, challenging and real-world related. The STEM Club is for students at all ability levels.  The goal is to increase critical thinking skills of each student through hands-on projects and challenges.  Students work in teams to explore a problem presented to them. Grades 2-4 (Doty/Salvagnini)

Speed Stacking – Speed stacks is an amazing way to build that hand-eye coordination, it activates both sides of the brain, and it is a fun competitive sport. Speed stacks is an individual and team sport that involves stacking 9–12 specially designed cups in a predetermined sequence as quickly as possible. This is designed for 3rd and 4th graders. The Origami Club is a club dedicated to the craft of origami. Students will learn and teach others how to fold origami and share this unique art form. Students will discover a new or already enjoyed leisure activity that can also improve spatial learning. Grades 2-4 (Mai)

Calligraphy Club - Do you want to learn how to write beautifully on cards, notes, and more? Come join us in Calligraphy Club! We will introduce different calligraphy styles, techniques, and tools. You will have the chance to experiment with various writing instruments such as pens, brushes, and markers. Ms. Wright will guide you through the fundamentals of calligraphy, including letter formations, spacing, and artistic embellishments.        Grades 2-4 (Wright)

Battle-of-the-Books – Grades 3 and 4 This is a competitive book club where students will read five books to compete in a competition.  You will need to be able to remember which books contain which information. Ability to remember events in the stories, details in the story, and what book it is important. We will do mini competitions in the club to prepare for the MISD Battle of the Books Competition. We will meet during our school club days and a few times a month after school. So, if you love to read and have a competitive nature, this club might be something you enjoy. (K. Williams/Dowden)

Movie Club – The Movie Club is for 2nd-3rd grade students. We will watch seasonal movies and have activities such as movie trivia, book comparisons, and more! (Wise/Davis/Lee)

Animal Lovers Club - In this club we will learn, research, and teach others about animals. We will work on research skills and how to tell if a website is a good source, all while talking about things we love! I might have a few special guests. Grades 3-4 (Herrera/Chambers)

Little Buzzers Running Club - Build up your endurance to participate in a FUN RUN at the end of the year.  Learn to warm up, stretch, fun run, and cool down. Students will run in a sectioned off space on campus to provide a safe and secure environment to learn and enjoy running.  At the end of the year the students will run a mile (or more) during our first Norwood Club Fun Run. Students will need to wear sneakers.  (Grades 2-4) (Menefee/Dodson)

Karaoke Klub - Come sing your favorite (school appropriate) songs karaoke style! Please bring a short list of 3 or more songs you’d like to sing on club days. Everyone in the club will sing along with you, or you can ask us not to and have your moment to shine in the spotlight! Grades 3-4 (Sauers)

Directed Drawing Club – We will put on a YouTube directed drawing channel and let students follow along and then color their drawing.(Castellanos/Austin K-2) (Ray 3-4)

Puzzle Club - Do you love to problem-solve through pictures? Students in this club will work together to complete puzzles of various shapes, sizes, and designs. (K-1 Farnsworth/Hargis/Fedun) (2-4 Hannaman)

Sewing Club-You will learn the basics of sewing while working on fun and creative projects. From making simple accessories to designing personal items, you will develop creativity where imagination and craftsmanship come together. 3rd-4th grade only (Hudson/M. Williams)

Happy Painting Club - I will present a Bob Ross style painting club. We will paint along to a video (pausing when needed for clarification). Grades 2-4 (Rohrig)

Crocheting Club -   If you are looking for a way to make things and learn a new skill, join the crocheting club. In this club we will learn how to crochet using yarn and hooks. We will make all sorts of crocheted items to share with friends and family. Grades 2-4 (Lira)

Chess Club - Students will play chess and learn critical thinking through chess puzzles. Participants will have the opportunity to compete in UIL chess puzzles.  Grades 2-4 (Jones)

Girls with Pearls - This program will be open up to 3rd and 4th grade girls We will implement self-development in various values. Total of 44 students (Magee/E. Williams)
