School Namesake
Brenda Norwood has spent her life pioneering integration efforts throughout Mansfield ISD. After graduating in 1966 from Mansfield High School’s first integrated class, she went on to become the district’s first African-American employee. Mrs. Norwood served in MISD for more than 40 years in roles ranging from paraprofessional to classroom teacher and volunteer. She is known for her positivity, love for children and commitment to the Mansfield ISD community. Brenda Norwood Elementary strives to model her love of learning, community, and inclusivity.
