English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) courses in grades K-4 will focus on the development of foundational skills needed for students to be successful at the elementary level, while ELAR courses in grades 5-12 will focus on continuing the development and refinement of those skills.

ELAR courses are based on Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for grades K-12.

These TEKS reflect the way literacy works when students take ownership of their own learning; building on foundational skills, increasing comprehension through responses to multiple genres, analyzing author’s craft and purpose in order to apply that craft in their own composition, and, all along the way, thinking with inquiring minds.

Curriculum files for each core subject (English, Math, Science, Social Studies) and grade level (K-12) are located on Google Docs.

Open the Curriculum Map, select the grade level (menu at bottom of worksheet) and click on the subject of your choice to view the associated curriculum.
